
The standard laptop charger block has been shrinking for years, but Ugreen’s latest entry in the GaN charging category pushes the form factor further than most. The 100W Mini Ice GaN charger, model X876, measures 90.2 by 55.6 by 18.2 mm, roughly the dimensions of a thick credit card, and weighs 178 grams (about 6.3 ounces). Priced at 189 yuan, or approximately US$28 (roughly £22), it is positioned as a travel-friendly alternative to the bulkier cube-shaped chargers that still ship with most laptops.
The charger uses gallium nitride semiconductors and Ugreen’s AirPyra stacking architecture to achieve a power density of 1.09 W/cm³. Despite the slim profile, it includes three ports: two USB-C and one USB-A. Each USB-C port can deliver the full 100 W when used alone, enough to charge a 2022 MacBook Air to 53 percent in 30 minutes by Ugreen’s internal testing. The USB-A port outputs up to 22.5 W for older cables and low-power accessories such as smartwatches or wireless earbuds.
A built-in thermal monitoring system continuously tracks internal temperatures and adjusts power delivery to prevent overheating, a common challenge in ultra-compact chargers where heat dissipation is limited by surface area. The charger also includes nine standard safety mechanisms: short-circuit, over-voltage, over-current, and related protections. Foldable prongs reduce the risk of snagging on fabric or scratching other devices in a bag.
Supported fast-charging protocols include PD 3.0, PPS, QC 3.0, AFC, and FCP, covering the major fast-charging standards used by Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and other manufacturers. The wide protocol support means the charger can handle laptops, tablets, phones, and accessories without needing multiple dedicated adapters.
Ugreen launched the Mini Ice first in China via JD.com, with international availability expected through its existing Amazon and global distribution channels. The company also recently introduced a 65 W version of the same card-like design, suggesting the form factor is becoming a recurring product category rather than a one-off experiment.
