Google has finally released a standalone Android app for Google Finance, 20 years after the product first launched as a web service, and roughly a decade after the company quietly removed its earlier mobile app in 2015.
The app, built with Google’s Material 3 Expressive design language, provides real-time market data, personalized watchlists, and a live financial news feed. Its headline feature is “Key Moments,” an AI-powered tool powered by Gemini models that automatically analyses market noise and generates plain-language explanations of why a stock’s price moved.
Alongside the mobile launch, Google’s web platform has received a portfolio management overhaul. Users can now upload investment holdings via screenshots or CSV documents, and access custom natural-language investment briefings and predictive research tools.
The launch positions Google Finance to compete more directly with Yahoo Finance and mainstream trading platforms like Robinhood. Google says an iOS version is scheduled for release later in 2026.
The app (version .938136659.0-release) is available now on the Google Play Store.
